Shandur Valley of Dir Upper.
The valley of Shandur is located in the valleys of Deosai
Mountains, which is still rarely seen by many people. The valley of Shandur,
situated at the foot of snow-capped peaks adorned with lush green meadows,
cascading waterfalls, and white snowy ridges, is a famous and beautiful
recreational spot in Deosai Mountains. The valley of Shandur, consisting of
fields decorated with green grass, thousands of colorful flowers, transparent
streams, and dense forests, is a mountain pasture. Here, nature is evident in its
original color and form, but due to the lack of roads, this beautiful and lush
area is hidden from the sight of tourists.
The famous and largest lake in Deosai Plateau is Shandur Lake,
located in the Shandur Valley. To reach the valley, you must first come to the
village of Biari (Jaar) of Dir Kohistan, from where there is a minimum four to
five hours hiking trail to Shandur. After walking from Biar to Datekun crossing
the river Panjkora in front of Biar Bazar, there is a path that goes to Landai
Darya and then to Shandur. Passing through Banalot, Banal, Molait Banal, and
Chachu Banal, you will reach the first lake of Shandur in about three hours.
Don't forget to see the waterfall of Molait Banal on the way. Then there is the
second lake of Shandur and then Shandur Band, located on the banks of Shandur
Banal Lake. According to Rafi Sahib (a tourist who has traveled to Shandur),
the length of Shandur Lake is approximately 1.3 kilometers. Shandur Lake is a
beautiful masterpiece of nature, and its beauty is so breathtaking that anyone
would be speechless and amazed.
There are no facilities like restaurants, etc. in Shandur Valley,
so you will have to bring food and drinks with you, and for spending the night,
Shandur Banal Mosque is available. There are many small and large hidden lakes
in Shandur. The famous Sheetak Lake is located about 45 minutes away from
Shandur Banal.
