In the picturesque region of Dir
Kohistan lies the breathtaking Jehaz Banda, drawing visitors with its
unparalleled beauty. Amidst this captivating landscape, a dedicated Doctor from
Lahore embarked on a remarkable endeavor: to establish a cozy retreat in the
eastern expanse of Jehaz Banda known as Bend Banda.
Undertaking this project was no easy
feat. With no road access to Jehaz Banda, all construction materials had to be
transported from Dir City via mules and donkeys, presenting logistical
challenges. Despite these hurdles, the Jehaz Banda Rest House, named
"Chemaren Cottage," was successfully completed in just five months.
The name "Chemaren Cottage"
derives from the Gawri language, where "Chemaren" translates to
"iron." Thus, the moniker encapsulates the essence of the dwelling:
an "Iron Cottage," symbolizing strength and durability amidst the
rugged terrain.
In Dir Kohistan, locals traditionally
migrate their livestock to the mountains during the summer months, erecting
temporary shelters known as "Banal." Jehaz Banda boasts several such
shelters, while the Rest House itself was meticulously constructed from wood
and stone, following precise engineering and architectural designs.
To withstand the region's harsh
climate, the rooftop of Chemaren Cottage is adorned with protective iron
sheets, shielding it from heavy snowfall and ensuring longevity. Inside,
visitors are greeted with three well-appointed rooms and a modest kitchen equipped
with essential amenities.
Experience the serenity of Jehaz Banda and unwind in the comfort of Chemaren Cottage, where nature's splendor meets modern hospitality
